Ryan Still Life Sketching

In 6th grade we really get students to try DIFFERENT techniques to learn to draw realistically.
Using a view finder is a great way of getting the placement on the page correct.

We will be using view finders and a still live for Art 6 sketchbook for a while.
Practice makes perfect!

Kluender A2 Art 78

My A2 Art 78 class is working on finishing up their mixed media selfies! Students sent me a photo of themselves, we altered it using Adobe Photoshop CS2, a graphics program we use in Computer ARt class. Then, we printed them onto t-shirt transfer paper and ironed them onto fabric. Students embellished the fabric using paint, texture plates, oil pastels, sharpies, beads, embroidery, paper and mod podge, etc. These are 11x14 inches of amazing-ness! They will soon be huing in the office, so be sure to stop by and check them out in person!

Kluender art 78

Hooray! Check out our AWESOME sgraffito platters! Art 78 students did such a good job planning, building, smoothing, scratching, glazing, firing, and grading their ceramic pieces!

Great job, guys! I know it was hard work and a lot of attention to detail, but the results were worth it!

Kluender Computer Art 78

Here are some examples of weekly journal #6...Students created a piece of artwork using a silhouette! We will be starting a "Selfie Silhouette" project very soon in class...

Many students are finishing up their DIGITAL KALEIDOSCOPES! What an amazing job they've done! Students took a photo and applied filters and image adjustments using Photoshop CS2. Then, they copied and flipped it four times! We printed it twice and mounted them!
Dont these kaleidoscopes look great?!?! Do you recognize any of the original images?
Hint....These two are animals....

Ryan B4 Animal Grid

Here is the B4's animal grids. We're not QUITE done BUT these are great in progress pictures.
Look at how accurate the students are able to make them! This technique is great ebcause it allows students to draw ACCURATELY but it is broken down in chunks.

Ryan B4 Blind Contour Drawing

Here is Ms. Ryan's blind contour drawing!
Just a reminder a blind contour drawing is a type of drawing where you do NOT look at your paper. You focus on the object you are drawing. In this case it was our other classmates. We created portraits with out lifting our pencil and with out looking!
A lot of the time you can see all the different parts- they're not just in the right place!

They're cool Piccasso-esque drawings!
They are nice because it's fun and they don't have to worry about being "right."

Ryan B1 Art 6 Animal Enlargement

B1 shows off their drawings skills! Look at the level of accuracy that these students acheive! Wow!
Here is a jaguar drawn by one of our artists!
Kangaroo in progress. I can't wait to see it finished!
