Kluender art 78

(artwork in progress by Jewel)

My A2 and A4 Art 78 classes are doing SO GOOD!!!! We learned how to create the illusion of depth using 2 point perspective. We're using those awesome skills to draw a stack of legos. Then, we're learning about hue, tint and shade using prismacolors to add color!

Kluender A2 Art 78

My A2 Art 78 class is working on finishing up their mixed media selfies! Students sent me a photo of themselves, we altered it using Adobe Photoshop CS2, a graphics program we use in Computer ARt class. Then, we printed them onto t-shirt transfer paper and ironed them onto fabric. Students embellished the fabric using paint, texture plates, oil pastels, sharpies, beads, embroidery, paper and mod podge, etc. These are 11x14 inches of amazing-ness! They will soon be huing in the office, so be sure to stop by and check them out in person!

Kluender art 78

Art 78 is making progress on their AMAZING platters!!!!!

My A2 block is smaller than average, so we have decided to take advantage of this and do something different! Students will be doing a "stitched selfie" mixed media project. They took selfies and we altered them in Photoshop, printed them onto tshirt transfer and ironed them onto fabric....More soon!

What do you do in Art when your team's field trip gets cancelled last minute? Have fun and make a mess!
We learned lots of diferent mixed media techniques today......

...like shaving cream marbelized paper...

...packing tape transfers....

...washes with watercolors and waterbased markers....

...collage...drawing....resist....texture rubbings....

I hope to see these cool techniques used in future artworks! :)

Kluender A2 Art 6

Students that have been identified as "Art GT" or gifted in the area of visual art are being challenged to complete their drawings in colored pencil, instead of grayscale pencil. Differentitaion of instruction ensures that all students will be working to their full potential.

After students are done shading, they will be collecting color samples from magazines....we will be creating a mosaic background next!

They are doing such a great job! Do you recognize any of these celebrities?

Kluender A2 Art 6

Art 6 is working on a grid drawing. They chose their favorite celebrity to work from. They are drawing them using the grid method. Then, after erasing the gridlines, they are using grayscale pencil to add shading. We are even using ebony pencils to add really dark values!

Kluender A2 Art 6

My Art 6 students have been working on drawing a still life that I had set up in the studio! They did such a great job!

After drawing the still life in pencil, they traced it in Sharpie. Then, they overlayed a grid. They will apply "filters" to each grid using different color schemes and materials.

All kinds of maneki neko critters getting ready to dry over winter break!

Kluender A2 Art 6

Art 6 students have been so excited working on building their maneki neko sculptures!
They started with two spheres that they made into pinch pots. The pinch pots were attached using the score, slip and seal method to create a hollow body.

Then, they added arms, legs, ears, tails, etc.

Some added texture using tools and stamps.

We have to let them dry before we fire them in the kiln. We dont want any moisture or air bubbles trapped in our projects! That would be BAD NEWS!

Kluender A2 Art 6

Day one of clay....future makenki nekos!
Today, we created two pinch pots and used the score, slip and seal method to attach them together into an "egg" shape. These will be the bodies for our maneki nekos...

A VERY IMPORTANT part of any Art project, especially clay, is STUDIO MAINTENANCE! We learn to make a mess....and we learn how to clean it up! Students are assigned a clean up duty according to the cards where they sit. Some clean up teams washed tables, some collected tools or smocks, etc. Maintaning a clean work environment is an important part of any shared studio space. These guys did a great job!
